Become A Mapper
A ‘mapper’ is a person who populates the Global Now Project by performing data entry tasks into the databases. When becoming a mapper, The Global Now Project administration team will:
Allocate service mapping tasks to individuals or organisational representatives
Designate some, parts or all of The Global Now Project software depending on the tasks that have been allocated.
Train the mappers on ‘how’ the Global Now Project software works & how to enter data into the databases.
Provide virtual & face-to-face technical support including training modules, ‘how-to videos’ & troubleshooting protocols as software developments are made.
Encourage mappers to make updates of organisational & social media details as changes are made, as well as updating links to staffing, activities, events, opportunities and/or resources.
Provide ongoing professional development & supervision of volunteer & paid mappers.
AN EDITOR
An editor is a ‘mapper’ who has been tasked of ensure that the information entered into The Global Now Project databases is correct & up to date. An editor will receive the necessary training to ensure that:
There are no spelling or grammatical errors
The language used is in the first person (i.e. there are no ‘us’ or ‘we’)
The information is objective and does not include subjective language, particularly when information has been copied from websites directly without an initial edit on entering the information into the database.
The information is precisely summarised & in a way that concise, easy to understand & comprehensive without missing details necessary details.
AN AUDITOR
An auditor is a ‘mapper’ that uses specific check-lists & external software to describe & analyse organisations, programs, services & initiatives entered into the database. An auditor will receive training on how to use the service mapping software and provide checks & balances to carefully scrutinise the databases. The auditing phase ensure that:
The information, language & details entered into the database is correct, up-to-date, accurate & free of errors.
The website links & hyperlinks go where they need to go and work correctly
The progressions & developments of the software design has been taken into considerations to ensure that the database is complete & not missing any significant details due to changes that have resulted since the conception and initial stages of the project.
The final stage of the auditing process, and potentially the most important step of the whole Global Now Project, involves Cold Calling the organisations, programs, services & initiatives entered into the databases. Cold calling provides an opportunity to confirm the information entered is correct and to add necessary details if required. Cold calling helps make stakeholders aware of the Global Now Project & its products (e.g. global databases, universal spreadsheet & resource USB’s), encourage them to promote The Global Now Project within their networks and to encourage them to be involved in the next step of Going Global in a Generation (the GGG Challenge), the Global Situational Analysis. After completion of the auditing process, the Global Now Project will be ready for launch.
