Going Global In a Generation
The GGG Challenge

The GGG Challenge hopes to stimulate discussion in the mental health system to encourage a movement to Go Global in a Generation. Going Global In a Generation demonstrates an understanding that digital technologies are transforming the very nature of the way people live, work and collaborate with others.

GLOBAL SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS

The Global Now Project aims to provide a baseline of a global situation analysis through the development of the following opportunities that the service mapping software provides:

  • Centralised Global Database of mental health organisations, initiatives, programs and services.
  • Spreadsheet extraction from database to form Universal Spreadsheets to be shared with all stakeholders.
  • A one-stop-shop of all resources to form the foundations of a Global Literature Review and bring about a Consensus of Language in the mental health system. Once information has been collected and displayed online on the Global Now Project website, it will also then be possible to provide information of the resources and research in a range of mental health topics on one USB stick.
  • Global Information Share of resources & research in the mental health system. This will be organized into themes with the related studies and information on these topics.
  • Standardised Research Methodologies used in mental health studies. The Global Now Project creates an opportunity to map the methodologies used in mental health studies in one place.
  • Global Knowledge Translation to summarise the conclusions and outcomes of mental health studies as well as recommendations for future studies so that the research can be implemented in practices throughout the world.
  • Proactively reach out to stakeholders by mapping organization staff/teams, executive boards, advisory boards and consumer registers already created in the mental health system.

A situational analysis is the first step in the planning process that provides the baseline of information to dream, design, deliver and develop an optimal mental health system.

BEFORE WE LOOK FORWARD AND PLAN AN IDEAL FUTURE, WE MUST FIRST KNOW WHERE WE ARE AND WHAT WE ALREADY HAVE…

A situational analysis provides both a needs assessment and a gap analysis to determine the resources (i.e. human, financial, informational, technological & digital resources) that are required to make initiatives, programs, services accessible and available to people when they require them. This framework provides determination for the fundamental gaps in the programs, services, initiatives, research, resources and workforce. Also, determines what will be required to make mental health programs and services accessible and available for all around the world.

LOOKING FORWARD

The formulation of the baseline will then be necessary to determine the measures and outcomes that are required to dream, design, deliver and develop a global mental health system.

A GLOBAL MENTAL HEALTH AGENCY
(GOVERNANCE, REGISTRATION, MEASUREMENT, ANALYSIS & TRACKING)

Once a situational analysis has been completed and the benchmark measures have been formulated, it will be necessary to form a global mental health agency. Going Global in a Generation requires this agency to:

  • Form a registration body to ensure that all new organisations, initiatives, programs, research departments, resources, research or stakeholders are registered and entered into the database. This is important to ensure that any new information, resources or research can be integrated into the global system.
  • Measure, analyse and track the activities and transactions of people & organisations in the mental health sector. This requires the use of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning & the blockchain to provide a centralized body to aggregate data to run continuous real-time and objective measurements of outputs, performance, quality, efficiency, effectiveness and satisfaction of in the mental health system.
  • Satisfaction
  • Participants
  • Transaction
  • Transaction Value
  • Interactions
  • Engagement
  • Match Quality

Through the analysis of population-level aggregated data, tracking systems allow for ongoing real-time monitoring. Tracking systems provide multiple functions including:

  • Detecting patterns and trends of activities and transactions to evaluate what is happening in the mental health system. This provides sophisticated insights into how organisations, initiatives and stakeholders could increase their performance.
  • Creates ongoing reporting to initiate objective, data-driven decision making to provide progress in the mental health systems.
  • Provides rating systems to provide ongoing, objective real-time auditing that ensures transparency & accountability of all stakeholders in the mental health system.
  • Generate customized planning & strategies for ongoing evolution of the mental health system.
  • Serve as the standard to show the quantifiable impact of transactions and interactions in the mental system to measure and track levels of progress over time.

GOVERNANCE (THE 7 D’S FRAMEWORK)

For an agency to function it needs a governance structure that can work and be integrated into the system. The 7 D’s Framework can be used as problem solving, administration and decision-making tool that is required to govern a community, nation or the global society.

The first stage to Go Global In A Generation (GGG) is the focus of the Global Now Project, that is to conduct a situational analysis. Once a situation is created, this will form the foundation to plan an ideal future, implement these strategies and build local, national & global systems for ongoing feedback and evolution.
