Mental Health Carers NSW

Mental Health Carers NSW (‘MHCN’, formerly Arafmi NSW) is a non-government organisation. We are the peak body for mental health carers in NSW. We engage in systemic advocacy to reflect the voices and needs of carers and drive change in the mental health system. As the peak body for mental health carers in NSW, MHCN regularly consults with carers across NSW to gain information on their opinions and experiences with the mental health system. They use the information gained to provide feedback on policies and services on behalf of carers to the NSW Ministry of Health and to other government bodies.

As a peak body, MHCN provides feedback on policies and services on behalf of carers to the NSW Ministry of Health and to Local Health Districts. We make a positive difference to the mental health system by influencing changes in policy, legislation, and service provision. We regularly engage with carer lived experience across NSW to ensure accurate and representative feedback.

Mental Health Families and Friends Tasmania (MHFFTas) is the state-wide leader in advocating for the importance and visibility of mental health and AOD families and friends in Tasmania. Everything they do as an organisation is informed by the lived experience of the mental health and or alcohol and drug support person. It’s at the core of what we do, how we make decisions, who we hire and work with, the publications we produce, and the ongoing conversations we have.
