Brain In Hand
Brain In Hand

Brain in Hand is a digital self-management support system for people who need help remembering things, making decisions, planning, or managing anxiety. It's not condition-specific, but is often used by people who are autistic, who have learning difficulties, or who are managing mental health challenges. Combining human support and digital self-management technology, Brain in Hand helps people live more independently. Their system is approved by government departments and in use throughout health, social care and higher education settings across the UK.

  • One-to-one support: a qualified specialist helps you to identify your goals, recognise strengths, and develop solutions to overcome problems. We support each of our users to get started in the right way and keep making Brain in Hand work best for you.
  • Web and mobile software: simple self-management features help with managing anxiety, remembering things, planning, and making decisions. It's all personalised on a secure web page and accessed on your phone or smart device whenever you need it.
  • Round-the-clock support: whenever you need some extra help, you can use a simple traffic light system to let someone know you could use some support. This could be a Brain in Hand responder, or someone who already supports you.

Brain in Hand help support services across the UK to achieve truly personalised, joined-up care. Working with service providers every step of the way, they ensure smooth implementation and maximum impact. Users have control over their own independence, accessing the services they need when they need them. This allows those who support them to reach more vulnerable people within existing resources.

  • Users: a combination of digital tools and human support, all based on research and evidence about what works, helps people build independence, feel more confident, manage their own difficulties, and achieve their goals.
  • Health and social care: Brain in Hand are working with over 60 local authorities and health teams to get the right support to the right people. With effective implementation support, we enable services to ensure each person is as independent as is right for them.
  • Education: thousands of students across 80% of UK universities use BiH through the Disabled Students' Allowance. University teams are making the most of the system too, joining up all the right support and resources in one place.
  • Workplace
  • Assessors

Brain in Hand improves lives and help organisations to deliver high-quality support more efficiently. From the start, they've invested heavily in engaging with researchers, commissioners, end users, and the academic community so we can better understand the impact our system makes for users and organisations. They have recently been granted a Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) award. This funding will enable them to undertake research that will help us to improve our product’s capabilities and the overall experience for users and service providers, as well as demonstrating clinical and health economic impact.

EVRYMAN
EVRYMAN

Evryman is a community for men where the internal work takes place They are a community that empowers men to become self-led. As an EVRYMAN community member, you gain resources every day to help you slow down, face forward, and use life‘s emotional challenges — for stronger connections with your loved ones, your life‘s work, and yourself.

  • Join a Men's Group: find a dedicated weekly peer-led men’s talking group or participate in a guided drop-in group whenever you want.
  • Find a Coach: learn from leaders who’ve walked the path. They’ll meet you where you are, while sharing a curriculum and toolbox to open your heart and empower you to live your fullest life.
  • Take a Guided Approach: a program developed by men for men 30 years in the making. Battle-tested by thousands of men, EVRYMAN will not only spark your fire, but give you the fuel you need to keep it burning.
  • Tools and Resources: leading scientists, renowned thought leaders, elite athletes and experts of industry to share their wisdom.

As a member, you’ll join a men’s group and community of men who have got your back and are invested in each other’s growth. You will also have access to our proven methods to help men live more thoughtful, fulfilling lives.

In late December, 2016, a small group of men bunkered down in a western Massachusetts barn in hopes of having an honest conversation about their emotions. They knew that no one person had all the answers, but if they leveraged the knowledge and experiences of every man in the group some magic might happen. Through a simple set of practices, we shared openly, challenged one another, and took each other to places we had never been before. We got real. It felt wild and transformative– like something we had to share with the world.

  • Connect: create a culture of connection that can be shared and implemented in any setting, institution, or relationship.
  • Grow: utilize simple emotional practices to help men develop new ways of interacting that lead to greater success, meaning, and fulfillment.
  • Learn: destigmatize men’s vulnerability and emotionality across our culture.
  • Help: help virtually anyone – regardless of training – start and run their own men’s groups.

Since 2017 we’ve dedicated ourselves to growing EVRYMAN so that the fulfillment and emotional awareness we experienced could be available to as many men as possible. There is something undeniably powerful about a group of people, let alone men, sitting and listening intently — cross-talk, interrupting and giving advice are highly discouraged — without distraction or interruption. There are conferences, and there are experiences that change your life.

EVRYMAN's Open Source Retreat [...] helped me experience significant personal breakthroughs. These mens-only retreats give participants a safe environment to learn how to use their emotions to access the personal shadows they hide

EVRYMAN Fundamentals
EVRYMAN Fundamentals

EVRYMAN Fundamentals is a 4 weeks course where you, along with a tight-knit group of likeminded men will tackle a curriculum designed to teach you what we consider fundamental emotional skills. While these skills may appear simple, what we’ve seen working with thousands of men from all over the globe over the last 25 years is that mastering them requires guidance, practice and dedication. Each week you and your group will take on a new skill and practice your ability to apply this skill through a series of challenges in your life. Then you’ll have the opportunity to share your successes and struggles with your cohort either through our online forum or in your weekly drop-in group. In addition, weekly office hours provide you with a forum to dive deeper into topics with the support of your teachers.

  • Week 1: Somatic Awareness: Moving from Survival to Connection
  • Week 2: Emotional Authenticity: Learning to be
  • Week 3: Creating Connection : Deep Listening
  • Week 4 : Taking Action : Get what you want

EVRYMAN Fundamentals will help you express your needs without feeling overwhelmed; find out that other men are experiencing the same challenges; find out what excites you and create a plan to take action; master your emotions and transform your relationships; and find your purpose and start living. EVRYMAN Fundamentals provides the knowledge, experience and skills and the arena to train but you do the work. And it is hard work. But trust us. The results are bigger than you can imagine.

ForLikeMinds
ForLikeMinds

ForLikeMinds is an online peer support community for people living with or supporting someone with mental illness. The ForLikeMinds platform is an online community of over 50,000 people focused on mental health. ForLikeMind aims to pursue Recovery and Wellness by

  • Overcoming Isolation: by finding and creating groups & to find people with similar background
  • Engage and Empower: share knowledge and support in peer groups and one-on-one & to discover community strength
  • Control Your Experience: easily manage interactions, stay anonymous, private and secure at no cost

ForLikeMinds is dedicated to the recovery and wellness of people living with or supporting someone with mental illness, substance use, or a stressful life event. We empower members to connect and engage in relatable micro-communities of people with similar backgrounds and experiences. This journey starts with hope and is nourished by the support of like minds sharing their lived experience.

ForLikeMind approach is innovative and highly attuned to the experiences and needs of those affected by conditions and stressful life events. That is because of our own experience. Unlike most mental health startup entrepreneurs, our founder has a mental health condition, which she has disclosed. She was diagnosed with bipolar I disorder, including major depressive disorder, over 15 years ago. Her family has supported her through extreme ups and downs. Our own mental health experiences have led us to build a platform that differs in important ways from other online mental health and substance use applications, including:

  • Focus on mental health conditions - Several websites allow users to connect with people across all types of medical conditions. We think mental health should have its own community platform given the sheer magnitude of people who experience a mental health issue every year.
  • Recognize interconnections between conditions and events.
  • Understand that mental health and substance use conditions often co-occur. We provide a place for those conditions to be discussed individually or together.
  • Recognize the importance of stressful life events and their connections to a wide range of mental health and substance use conditions.
  • Believe that it is valuable to allow members to address these issues in combination or individually, which is how we’ve built our platform.

Focus on shared lived experience – Our founder was inspired in her own recovery by the recovery examples and efforts of others. Further, when our founder started taking ownership of her condition, she found that peer support had tremendous untapped potential to help so many people beyond her. Our personal backgrounds significantly influence the onset, treatment, and overall experience of our mental health. We, therefore, built ForLikeMinds to allow members to connect based on shared backgrounds and experience.

Focus on recovery and wellness – Our platform is founded on the potential to achieve recovery and wellness and to live life fully while managing a condition or stressful life event. The shared experience of others in similar situations provides hope, insights, and practical guidance to overcome stigma, self-empower, and achieve recovery.

A place for supporters too - We are the first dedicated mental health platform to serve interests of both people living with or supporting someone with a condition. No other online destination is tailored specifically to the needs of supporters. We embrace and acknowledge the important role supporters play in the recovery and well-being of their loved ones. Often overlooked is the importance of self-care and well-being of supporters while they care for their loved ones. We allow supporters to find and engage with other supporters to benefit from peer-based examples to help loved ones and themselves.

We are a community of wide ranging voices, opinions, and experiences. We hope to share in a respectful, tolerant, and collaborative environment. These Community Guidelines seek to enhance member engagement by establishing minimum standards of conduct. While Group Leaders are not employees or agents of ForLikeMinds, your Group Leader may choose to provide his or her own additional guidance, provided it does not conflict with our Community Guidelines. When you signed up for ForLikeMinds, you agreed to these Community Guidelines. If at any time you feel that you are unable to act in accordance with these Community Guidelines, you should leave our platform. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

Psych Ward Greeting Cards
Psych Ward Greeting Cards

Psych Ward Greeting Cards makes it easy for empathic and compassionate people to let patients in the psychiatric unit know that people, even strangers, care about them and support them. ForLikeMinds created and manages this program to deliver greeting cards from strangers to patients at participating hospitals. Sharing a card can have a wonderful impact on a patient at their lows - offering help, encouragement, and hope. They need our support at this critical and vulnerable time. More than 80% of former psychiatric unit patients surveyed said receiving a "get well soon" card would have helped their recovery.

We regularly visit psychiatric units, distributing donated cards with inspiring messages and treats, at leading hospitals in the New York City area - the Payne Whitney Clinic at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital, and New York-Presbyterian Westchester Behavioral Health Center, and Yale New Haven Psychiatric Hospital.

We personally meet and speak to patients, sharing our lived experience and hope that recovery from mental illness is possible. We are thrilled to have the support of so many wonderful card donors. It is an honor and a privilege to support these inspiring patients and work with the staff members at our partner hospitals and non-profits.

Kinde
Kinde

Kinde is a social platform that makes taking care of your mental health as normal and easy as caring for your body. By providing safe spaces for sharing and practicing self care we’re making the world a happier place. Kinde collaborate with the most inspiring, thought provoking voices in mental health—from therapists to advocates. Their leadership team is committed to creating kinder, safer communities online.

  • Drive Better Outcomes: collaborate with Kinde to make self-care more safe and accessible.
  • Real Life Connections: the world’s largest community for mental health help.
  • Raise Your Profile: lead the movement to dismantle social stigma, shame and guilt that keeps people from seeking help. As a licensed mental health professional, your profile will be shared in the Kinde directory.

Kinde is the world's first social network for mental health community, events and support. Their Credo defines the values that guide everything we do and challenges us to put the wellbeing of the people we serve first. Their Credo serves as more than a moral compass, it’s the foundation for our business. They believe that:

  • Social networks are for humans, not trolls: what you say online should be no different than what you would say to a fellow human being in person. We have a zero tolerance policy for hurtful comments and abusive language. As a member of the Kinde community we encourage you to be mindful of what you say, and always be kind.
  • Social networks are for sharing your true self: curated profiles and highlight reels of ‘living your best life’ are toxic and breed unhealthy comparison to others. Achieving mental wellness is a lifelong journey that is best explored when people are upfront about their good and bad life moments. Kinde welcomes and encourages people from all walks of life to share these moments of vulnerability in an inclusive, supportive and safe environment.
  • Social networks IRL ≠ Online social networks: social media ‘friends’ and ‘likes’ are not a replacement for connecting with real people in the real world. Online talk and connections are meaningless without social interactions in the real world. Our 7 Day Challenges, events and other community resources are available to help you make real improvements to your daily life offline and online.
  • Online social networks can be addictive: at Kinde, we don’t ignore elephants in the room. Kinde is a social network, and like every other social networking platform it can become addictive without a healthy level of self-awarenesa. We take social media addiction as seriously as we do other triggers of poor mental health, and encourage you do the same with (or without) our Wellbeing Tracker, Challenges and other resources.
  • Social network operators should be accountable: social media is a powerful tool that can build communities up or tear them down. At Kinde, we take our responsibility to the people using our products and services very seriously. We ask one thing of our users, healthcare partners, business partners, and investors: Always choose kindness when communicating via our products and services

Kinde is committed to protecting the mental wellbeing and safety of our users above all else. Healthcare partners, business partners, and investors who fail to uphold Our Credo values in their advertising, shared content, or public practices will be removed from our community.
