We know that talking about what’s bothering you can be difficult and scary. Talking to someone at YouthLine may be the first time you say out loud what you’re going through. When you call us, we listen, support, and keep what you share to ourselves*.

What happens when you call? We’ll probably ask your name, zip code, and what you want to talk about, and we’ll listen. We won’t give you advice or tell you what to do. Instead, we’ll work with you to figure out next steps or just listen while you talk things out. If it’s helpful, we may tell you about places to get more information or where you can find long-term help. We’ll work really hard to make this a safe and comfortable conversation. YouthLine is for youth ages 10-24. If that doesn’t match you, we’ll get you over to our organization’s adult crisis line. Translation services are available upon request.

Samaritans on Cape Cod and the Islands
Samaritans on Cape Cod and the Islands

The Samaritans on Cape Cod and the Islands is a nonprofit organization that provides support to people experiencing crises. Our mission is suicide prevention: we are dedicated to helping people contemplating suicide or personally affected by suicide. Our goal is to be a caring and compassionate listener who, through interaction in a safe and anonymous environment, can rekindle people’s lost sense of hope, de-escalate a situation from a crisis level, and provide the pathway that makes day-to-day living manageable. There is nothing shameful about feeling suicidal. There may be pain, hopelessness, and feelings of isolation; but there never needs to be shame. And with help, there can be hope. If you are in pain, in crisis, or feeling alone and would like someone to talk to, please call our crisis line. We’re here to listen.

The Warm Line is staffed 8am-11pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year at no cost. Their certified peer support specialists have received specialized training and have navigated mental health issues and/or substance abuse issues of their own. They are trained in providing hope and empowerment through the recovery model. This model instills a person-centered approach to recovery and healing. Certified peer specialists engage with the community through empathetic listening. Our specialists encourage callers to resolve problems by fostering dignity and self-respect and finding their inner strength to live healthy, independent lives.
